Hillhouse, Green Power
NPL's 288 acre Hillhouse site at Thornton-Cleveleys, Lancashire provides a fully secure and serviced strategic industrial and employment site situated close to the port of Fleetwood and the M55 motorway.
In November 2015, the site was awarded Enterprise Zone status as a recognition of the regional significance of the site. This award has brought the benefits of accelerated planning consents, advanced capital allowances and business rates relief which have enabled NPL to populate and complete this showcase development in an expedited manner.
Planning is underway for a 350 kT/annum Energy from Waste plant is proposed on Hillhouse North. This facility would produce an output of circa 35MW and NPL’s Facilities Management company TFM would distribute a portion of this power directly to site users whilst the remainder would go to grid. Other upside opportunities available to TFM through this project are being evaluated.
A significant number of surveys and investigations have been undertaken on and around the proposed site. As this is not a Development Consent Order (DCO) application it will be handled by Lancashire County Council bringing a reduction in time for planning consent expedited by the Enterprise Zone status.
